Like movies? Love Design? Then you’ll love D:Screen!

We show creative films for designers and makers in Dundee.

Come along and meet other local designers/makers/creatives, watch a new design themed film and chat over some good food and coffee. We aim to show a different design/arts/maker related film every 4-6 weeks in Dundee for the fantastic design community that we have here.

At this years Dundee Design Festival, D:screen will be hosting several film screenings for the festival including Graphic Means, Maker the Movie and Workplace: The connected space documentary. Just another couple of great things to do at this years festival.

All screenings are free to attend. Whether you are a designer, maker, filmmaker, creative enthusiast or just passing by, come join us.

Graphic Means – 28th May 2017

The UK Premiere screening of “Graphic Means” at the Dundee Design Festival.

Graphic Means is a design documentary about the history of Graphic Design Production. We are excited to be the first to screen the film in the UK at the Dundee Design Festival.

Film Synopsis

Up until just over 30 years ago, when the desktop computer debuted, the whole design production process would have been done primarily by hand, and with the aide of analog machines. The design and print industries used a variety ofways to get type and image onto film, plates, and finally to the printed page.

Graphic Means is a journey through this transformative Mad Men-era of pre-digital design production to the advent of the desktop computer. It explores the methods, tools, and evolving social roles that gave rise to the graphic design industry as we know it today.
